Bouldering can be the perfect way to enter the climbing world. This discipline doesn’t require the technical rope skills required for top-rope or sport climbing, instead it challenges you in a completely different way.Whether you’re the kind of person that wants to focus and train on your own, or somebody that wants to socialise and complete challenges with friends and family, bouldering is perfect for everybody.
For those wishing to experience climbing in their own time, just pop by and talk to one of our experienced staff members. We will listen to your needs and walk you through the details of bouldering, and before you know it you’ll be hooked!
Rock climbing has the beauty of not only physically challenging you, but also enables the brain to engage too. Each climb, or “problem” requires a solution, which, dependent on how you approach it, produces a unique result. Meaning that each time you attempt the problem, it could result in something completely different to the last. Each problem also requires you to think how your body would best be placed on the wall, and how each hold affects its position, meaning that everybody, due to us all being different shapes and sizes, must approach every problem in such an individual manner.
All new members will be required to fill in the appropriate paperwork and complete an induction from one of our staff members before being able to boulder independently.
No, If you’re looking to use the facility independently and without the aid of an instructor you will not be required to book.
Comfortable clothing that allows freedom of movement. It’s also a good idea to have an extra layer for wearing when you’re not climbing. If you wear rings we have to ask you to take them off if possible. If not we will have to tape over them. We can provide climbing shoes for you.
Not to discourage any families from using our bouldering area, but bouldering is not a soft play area. Bouldering requires a specific understanding of the risks involved, requiring a full induction from one of our staff members. Please call 01905 350346 to speak to one of our staff members before arriving.
We require parental consent and parental visits in order to assess any under 18 candidates in our bouldering area. The assessments are undergone over several visits in order to sign off any under 18 member. Please speak to one of our centre staff if you are interested in allowing your under 18 to become independent at our climbing centre.
