Redpoint Worcester Climbing Centre has been chosen to host round 2 of the BMC Youth Climbing Series 2018 for the Midlands and Peaks area. As you can all imagine, we are super psyched about hosting this event and hope all of the young people in the area get involved too!
The BMC Youth Climbing Series is a fun climbing competition for all young people, being extremely popular and attracting hundreds of young climbers nationwide. This competition is open to all young people, so whether you’re new to climbing, or already have some experience, this could be just the competition for you.
There are three regional rounds in seven BMC areas followed by a Grand Final where the top three in each category from each BMC area, and from Scotland and Ireland, take part.
Redpoint Worcester will be hosting Round 2 of the BMC Youth Climbing Series 2018 for the Midlands and Peak area on the 3rd of March 2018

Round 1: Saturday 27 January (entries close on Sunday 21 January)
Round 2: Saturday 3 March (entries close on Sunday 25 February)
Round 3: Saturday 24 March (entries close on Sunday 18 March)
Grand Final: Saturday 28 April at Edinburgh International Climbing Arena Ratho
There are five categories and each is split into boys and girls. The categories are called Youth A, B, C, D and E and follow the IFSC system (International Federation of Sport Climbing) system.
Youth A those born in 2001 & 2002
Youth B those born in 2003 & 2004
Youth C those born in 2005 & 2006
Youth D those born in 2007 & 2008
Youth E those born in 2009 & 2010
Each event comprises 3 routes and 3 boulder problems for each category. In categories A, B and C routes are led. In categories D and E they are top-roped. For an explanation of the difference between leading and top-roping please see A Parents Guide to Climbing
To be eligible for the Grand Final it is necessary to take part in at least two regional rounds in the Area that a climber lives. If a series is not organised in their region climbers may enter the series in the region nearest to them.
How do I enter?
Entry is online only and by the dates stated. Competitors will be unable to enter after the dates stipulated, or on the day of the competition (there will be no exceptions).
